WBC 2010 – Day 3

Final for Republic of Rome tonight. This is going to be my last year running the game. I would love to be able to say it is bitter sweet or some such…. But I have just burned myself out. After running it for so many years I just need a break and to be able to enjoy DonCon.

On a brighter note hopefully we can mix in a steak dinner tonight before the final

People… Deodorant is really not optional in the month of August. I am going to hand out those little pine trees next year for WBC 2011

WBC 2010 – Day 1

Today was my first full day at the WBC. The demo of Republic of Rome went pretty well with some new player interest. The first heat just began with two tables. From what I am told there are a lot of time conflicts this year so we will see what happens for the second heat

Currently I am in my second full day here at the Con. The second heat of Republic of Rome is underway (which incidentally is being republished by Vally Games and is available for pre-order ). There are a few more playing this year with a surprising number of new faces. The one low point so far has been the guy that decided to get up and walk away about 3 hours into the game. Thankfully I wasn’t playing as of yet and was able to sit down and take over. It still kind of sucked trying to pickup for someone whom hasn’t been laying the ground work for the entire game. I took second in that game – so I can’t really complain.

The drop dead card has been a hit again this year – it has really helped keep games moving along and prevent the knife fest that tended to happen in previous years.

The question on everyone’s mind this year is…will the new version of the game be out in time for the Con next year?
